PERSONALITY
The genres I like can vary a lot. One day I may want to listen to Gospel and the next day I may want to listen to Hip Hop. My song choice really depends on how I am feeling and what I am doing. Picking the song and labeling it as my favorite was a bit difficult but I had one in mind and after listening to it again, I ended up picking it. The song I chose is called “Blimp” by Bonsaye.
I first heard the song in a BET commercial and really liked it. Since the song has no lyrics, it was a bit hard for me to figure out the title of it. I figured out the name of the song using an app called Shazam. All I had to do was go to the app on my phone and press the button in the middle while the commercial played and the app let me know what the name of the song was.
I really like the song because it makes me feel free and it's very calming. I feel like I have a strong personality and the song feels like it's the complete opposite of my personality which could contribute to why I like it so much.
The instruments that I think were used in the song reminds me a lot of the Dominican Republic. Everytime I listen to the song I think of being in a lovely resort in the Dominican Republic drinking a nice cold tropical drink while the breeze makes the heat of the sun feel good.
Part of the reason for why I think it's my favorite is because I didn't play it too many times once I figured out the name of the song. I know that every time I find a new song that I like, I tend to play it over and over until I don't like it anymore, but I'm glad I did not because it allows me to still like the song. I am also now realizing I probably didn't overplay it because it has no lyrics.
FIRST MEMORY
As far as I can remember, my first memory is actually something I later found out was a dream. I dreamed my grandfather was walking towards his casket with the help of two of his daughters, two of my aunts, and they were all dressed in white.
It took place in my aunt's house in the Dominican Republic and little 5 year old me was staring at them by the door. I'm not sure when it occurred, whether if it was before he died or after, but I'm almost certain it was after he died, and I was very young when I encountered this.
