PERSONALITY

Success is a term utilized by society that usually has an operational definition. Success varies based on the individual; some believe that it may be: materialistic success, monetary, family, or even the freedom to live on your own terms. This song successfully embodies various aspects of success, however the most meaningful to me would be the ability to live life on your own terms.

Although money cannot purchase happiness, it is a large contributor to it. Wrapped in Drake's lyrics, “money and the cars” represent any ambitious individuals striving toward success. The ability to experience life in this manner represents what happens when you fight against the fear of failure, when you understand yourself, your strength and weaknesses, and the ability to conquer each day by changing your attitude toward life.

In order to attain this level of success you must go your own way, you must be calculated and smart. If you follow the already forged path, you will attain exactly what everyone else has. Going against the grain of society is a must, to become something unique. If you can dedicate yourself to an ideal and make it your identity, you can become greater than the average person. The 1% of the world understands this concept; the concept to attain greatness lies within the person themselves. The ability to take astronomical risks in the face of fear, because on the other side of fear are life’s greatness experiences. This is why the 99% work for the 1%.

This song correlates to my personality because I have been blessed by God to understand this ideal that most in society cannot comprehend. I know that in order to attain the level of success I crave, I must continue to embody certain ethics and discipline in order to succeed.

FIRST MEMORY
Childhood amnesia is a serious hindrance to recalling fond memories. My favorite memory would be experiencing flying kites on Easter Sunday in Georgetown, Guyana.

This was a recurring tradition that almost every youth took part in. Every year right before this holiday, street vendors would primarily specialize in the resale of intricate kites. There were various colors and designs available for choosing. From: paper to plastic, to kites with tails and no tails, to multicolor to single colored kites. Once airlifted the sky represented a vast array of colors symbolizing unity.

Each year I experimented with the kind of kite I wanted. The first year I was old enough to remember this holiday, my kite was unique and color, howbeit very heavy. Even the strong Guyana winds could not hoist it into the air.

Although, my second year, I opted for paper. My kite soared into the sky, after a while, I discovered certain techniques to perform flashy tricks that could keep anyone entertained for hours. At the end of each day, my family would all arrive at one of our favorite restaurants (I can't remember the name) and have a huge dinner.
