QUARANTINE DIARIES
And I think it has an essence of effort! So instead of texting him a picture of my paintings, I chose to mail them to him. I had asked him to send me a picture of the paintings, but he sent me that collage instead and I thought that was better because it almost tells the whole story.
I will search my camera roll if I have more pictures. Those were just the more recent ones.
PERSONALITY
Music is often a way to allow us to feel a certain emotion by listening, dancing, or even writing it. Genres can express different ideas, cultures, or feelings and can enforce or empower our own beliefs. Music can also help us tell a lot about who someone is, not only by the most listened to genre, but by the diversity in their playlist.
Psychological Science says that “your taste in music could reveal insights to your personality”. My taste in music really evolved since I was a little kid. Now, my preferences range from Mexican Regional to Trap to Classical music. I always look for new music to listen to because, in my opinion, that is another way for our mind to grow and discover new ways of expressing who we are.
After a long and hard search, I chose to write about my favorite piece by Paul Halley called Winter. I came across this piece while watching a really amazing short film called “The Maker”.
I ended up looking for the original version which is a bit long but it is so worth the listen. I believe that this piece “communicates meaningful information” about my personality because of how colorful in emotion it is. While listening to music, I like to imagine a scene in my head that best fits the emotion. This is my favorite thing to listen to because in every bit of this piece, there is a different emotion that gets portrayed. The variety of emotions expressed throughout the piece represents the variety in myself.
Also, it falls under classical music, a genre that you don't expect everyone to listen to and enjoy. I find that it manages to be so peaceful but it can also be very aggressive by using only instruments and no words. Without the words, it leaves it up to the listener to determine the story.
FIRST MEMORY
My earliest memory is when my whole family went to the lake in the summertime. Thinking back will always make me laugh. I enjoyed this exercise because the more I thought about it, the more I remembered.
I think I was about 4 years old. We settled down by the grilling area and wooden tables. I remember this really big hammock, brought by my parents, that my cousins and I would play in after coming back from the water as a way to dry off.

As we waited for the food to be ready, we all sat down at one of the tables. My aunt had my cousin in her arms and at the time my cousin Angel was just a baby. She took a little piece of hair in the front and curled it on his forehead just like Superman had his hair and carried him as to mimic him flying. I do not remember the name of the lake but I know that I do feel that it is a very special place because it was a chosen spot for my family to have fun. Recently, I spoke to my other cousin, his older brother Erick, and I asked him if he knew what I was talking about, and he did remember. There is actually a picture of my aunt holding my cousin with his Superman hairdo.
This being my first memory, it reminds me of the importance of appreciating when the family is all together and having fun. It isn't all the time that we got to see everyone, so we enjoyed it while we could.
