PERSONALITY

One song that I love and I feel is appropriate to write about is "Pursuit of Happiness" by Kid Cudi. I believe this song is important to me because this song means finding your happiness and living your life to the fullest. Having fun with no regrets.

This song talks about dreaming big and in the song Kid Cudi talks about the journey one takes to achieve the happiness that everyone desires, or is told to aspire for. This song talks about how the pursuit of happiness can induce a lifestyle of substance abuse, anticipation and regret even though there is the possibility we will not be happy in the end. Through the lyrics:

“Crush a bit, little bit,
roll it up, take a hit
Feelin’ lit, feeling light,
2 am summer night”

Kid Cudi describes an experience making life about getting intoxicated or high, and glamorizes the effects these substances have.

This can relate to me because when I went away in the summer with my friends we would usually work all day and go out around 12:30-3 having the time of our lives and just finding our own types of happiness. Kid Cudi wants this ultimate happiness that is so perfect, and he will do anything to obtain it.

That’s what makes the song so relatable to me because everyone wants to be happy. Everyone wants a job that makes them happy, wants to be with a partner that makes them happy or even wants stability to make them happy or a combination of all. Happiness is more important than most people are willing to admit and if a person is happy they can be at ease with everything else that is occurring in life.

The Pursuit of Happiness' lyrics focus on how achieving happiness is very important but the journey may not be easy or as glamorous as expected. There will be many aspects of life that are not clear or are deceitful, but it will all be worth it as long as the end product is happiness. Kid Cudi comes to the conclusion that even though he wants happiness, and he may not get it, he is content with that: his desire and struggle in pursuing it.

FIRST MEMORY

My earliest childhood memory is when I had a skateboard and always loved to be outside. One day I thought I was Tony Hawk, ran outside, jumped my stairs and broke my skull open, leaving a scar on my eyebrow where I had to get stitches and was bleeding.

Another early childhood memory is having a horse on my birthday and riding, going in vacation and also riding a horse. It was pretty fun.

I think these are my earliest memories because how can you forget these fun experiences that make you, YOU? I enjoy being outside, hurt or not, just taking risks. My life is fun and hands on.
